This is another poem that was made for Liz. The prompt here was “mortician.” You can see this picture and more on the Typewriter Poetry Facebook page.
“Mortician”
They think I study
death
because I’m morbid.
But really
the analysis
of unmoving bodies
makes one reconsider
the steps they take
in their own life,
the mistakes they make
and their own regrets.

I’m sure that must be true. Where do you get your prompts?
I sit out at art walks, farmer’s markets, and other public gatherings with a sign that says “free poems.” People stop by and give me prompts, either by telling me a story or writing down a word, phrase, idea. Some people also submit prompts online through my anonymous ask box: http://mytypewriterpoetry.tumblr.com/ask
